My name is Debby Wronkowski and I live in Two Rivers, Wisconsin. I have been working at Memorial Drive Vet Clinic as a Vet Assistant / Receptionist since 1990. I have been involved with Australian Shepherds since 1989 and you can ask anyone ..... they are my kids and my life!!
I was supposed to get a Border Collie puppy, but the breeding did not take. A friend in my local Kennel Club had a litter of Aussie pups ...... I "just went to look"..... and came home with "Bunny" - Woodlands Blue Stardust of AMP.
I attended my first ASCA (Australian Shepherd Club of America) dog show with Bunny when she was only 9 weeks old. We had a great time, made lots of new friends and while I was there ..... I caught the "dog show bug". I have since then acquired many obedience titles ( CD, CDX, UD and OTCh ) and breed championships ( CH ).
As Bunny matured many breeder friends & judges told me to consider breeding her, they even helped me find the "perfect" male to become her 'husband' ......... ASCA/AKC CH Badgerlands Sudden Impact "Harry".
On September 19, 1992 ..... Woodlands Australian Shepherds was born .... our 1st generation .....
UKC CH Woodlands Dream Come True CDX, HIC, ThD, CGC .. aka "Dream".
Bunny and Harry were the proud parents of four beautiful bundles of fur and my breeding program had begun. With help from some excellent friends, many seminars and a LOT of reading ..... I have progressed to where I am now (and there is always so much more to learn).
My kids health & happiness are my main concern.
ALL of my "kids" are house dogs - they take turns sleeping with me, because even a king-sized bed is not big enough for all of us! All of my 'kids' have their eyes tested & cleared yearly, are OFA certified (both hips & elbows, when old enough), are thyroid tested and Pelger Huet tested before they become part of my breeding program. I also require the same health clearances of any outside sires I may use.
When I 'match up' my parents-to-be there are 3 things I am looking for ..... Health, Temperament and Structure. A dog of structurally soundness with good health and an even temperament and you've got a lifelong friend that has the ability to do anything ! I expect my litters to excel in 'whatever their lil hearts want to', of course with the approval of their new parents :-)
My litters are born in my bedroom and then moved to an Xpen in the livingroom when they start 'sneeking' out of the whelping box. I take them outside, at approximately 5-6 weeks old, to 'investigate' the backyard, pending the weather. Once they become confident in our yard I take them on 'adventures' to my parents and my sisters house -- I want my pups to be self-assured that they "can handle anything" when they leave here.
I invest a lot of mental and physical time with my "kids" and my "babies", therefore I only have 1 (maybe 2) litters per year.
Over the years Woodlands has accomplished multiple ...
Obedience "Top 10" rankings
"OTCh" (Obedience Trial Champion)
"UD" (Utility Dog)
"CDX" (Companion Dog Excellent)
"CD" (Companion Dog)
"High in Trial" awards
